Lemon Marinated Steak is Delicious Hot or Cold in a Salad. An easy marinade gives this meat a wonderful flavor.
Lemon Marinated Steak
I have been making Lemon Marinated Steak for years and everybody loves it. I once brought it cold to a dinner at an outdoor concert where my friend declared that it was “the best picnic I ever had.” It is another recipe that I call a chase-around: People will chase you around demanding to know how to make it. It requires some advance planning for the marinating time, but it is very easy to cook. This steak is wonderful the next day in sandwiches (if you have any left!)
This steak is tasty grilled but does very well under the broiler. It has so much flavor that the cooking method doesn’t really matter. You could even pan-fry it and serve it over a bed of cooked spinach.
Lemon Marinated Steak would go well with our Roasted Baby Potatoes and a small green salad.
What cuts of meat are best for this recipe?
I used sirloin, but any cut of boneless steak would work.
How do I zest the lemon?
The best way is with a microplane zester These are available in any kitchen store. I made this steak for years without one and it is a real game-changer. So fast and easy! In a pinch you can buy dried lemon peel in the spice aisle or online, but I find fresh works better in this marinade.
Are there special techniques for this recipe?
This recipe is fairly straightforward, however, there are some precautions you should take whenever you handle raw ingredients. Make sure that all plates, cutting boards and cutlery are washed well in hot soapy water. Wash your hands before handling anything after touching raw meat. Never put the cooked meat on the same plate that held the uncooked ingredients. If you would like to use any leftover marinade as a sauce, bring it to a boil, lower the heat, and cook for ten minutes to kill any organisms from the raw steak.
