We are Barbara and Shoshy, a mother-daughter cooking team. We are excited to offer you recipes that follow the laws of kashrut and are perfect for your Jewish kitchen. No substitutions needed–we’ve already figured it out!
Many people believe that kosher meals have to be fatty, heavy and full of meat. We aim to show you that while traditional kosher meals are delicious, you are not limited to those kinds of foods; salads, beans, pastas and vegetables are all part of tasty kosher cuisine. We will also be featuring variations on traditional foods, such as challah, brisket and kugel.
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget dessert! Everyone enjoys a bite of something sweet. We all love ice cream, but we will also be bringing you parve desserts to go with all your formal meat meals and holiday dinners.
About us:
After a career as an American Sign Language interpreter, Barbara raised her children and cooked many, many meals. She is also a certified professional dog walker, and a voracious knitter and reader. She has an obsession with kitchen gadgets and has been heard crying out in her sleep: “You will pry this pineapple corer out of my cold, dead hands!”
Shoshy recently graduated with a degree in physics (more useful in the kitchen than you would think) and now is a professional Jewish Educator at an East Coast synagogue. A long-time vegetarian, she is always looking for more dishes without meat.
We are very excited to bring you recipes from Our Jewish Kitchen.
We would love to hear from you. Drop us a line at ourjewishkitchen(at)gmail(dot)com. This format is so we only hear from you–not robots.
We hope you enjoy our site!
